Gauge R&R

Hallo,
I have a question
why P/T ratio for gauges has to be <10 % or in other way R&R to be less <10 % ?
Does it has any correlation with Process specification ? If So what is the margin for not committing Type I error?
Regards

Re: Quality Slogan

I agree with Chris and "Dr. Deming's point #10. If management embraces/fosters an atmosphere of quality improvement and provides the means to achieve the goals, then posters/slogans have no use and are not necessary. If management doesn't lead the way by example, then the only thing posters/slogans are good for is a laugh from all the frustrated workforce."
Additionally, while here, inspection does not create quality, just tries to ensure it.
Most businesses profess that quality is a top priority (number one or two in most cases), however, quality is one of the least measured product attributes. So tracking quality (dpu, RTY, DPMO, etc.) is a more critical step in improving it. Keep it measurable, keep it simple.

Re: Cpk Question

Hi,
There are two types of specifications unilateral or Bilateral. These specifications are further classified with refence to customer 1. Nominal is best or lower is best or higher is best. Then there are specifications derived from process. If process can set to nominal value it is considered as bilateral & there will be two values of Cpk 1 & Cpk2 the lowest value is the Cpk you have to consider Example Shaft Diameter 10 Having Tolerance +0.1, 0.Another case driven by process say rounout which will have only upper specification the lower one is by nature It is 0 called Natural limit. Here it is simple Cpk is Upper Spec - Xbar / 3s No confusion in this case 0 is not specification valu.
In minitab if you assighn lower tolerance zero you will get only one cpk value & no cp value.
