The seven basic tools for TQM are:

1 cause and effect diagrams
2 flow charts/process flow diagrams
3 pareto charts
4 run charts
5 histograms
6 scatter diagrams
7 control charts

There are significant differences between TQM and Six Sigma -- just looking at the tools -- aren't there? It would appear that with the addition of FMEA, DOE, and others that Six Sigma is much more powerful than TQM.
