    I'm attempting to get Six Sigma into my company via the "stealth" method. I have the unofficial backing of 2 middle managers who report to the board.

    The idea being that if I can complete a couple of smallish projects, using Six Sigma techniques and prove the £$ value, then we'll be much more likely to get the board on board with Six Sigma. (excue the pun).

    Between the two willing managers, we have the run of: Inventory Planning/purchasing, Logistics (in, out, storage), Repairs, and "internal sales" who cut sales orders etc.

    I personally work in the Logistics area, but am knowedgeable to different degrees across all mentioned areas.

    Could anybody suggest some "easy pickings" type starter projects that will give a proveable £$ or Customer Satisfaction result?

    My current thoughts are:

    • Inventory Holding - reduce cost by remving O&E also lifts inventory turns;
    • Quality of Cycle counting. We report accuracies of 99.99% financial and 98% by bin, but I wouldn't like to guess how accurate or blind our counting (done by nightshift) is.
    • Parts critical to repairs; ensuring we have them, possibly using a Kanban setup, moving them closer to repairs function, all based on cutting working time to enable repairs to meet/lower SLA

    Anybody have any other additional or preferential suggestions?

    Nick
