I am not entirely sure why normal distributions are important. During my BB training, the master BB sometimes says, if you collect data and it is not normal, "you need to collect more data" -

What does non-normal data actually say about the process in question (without any other information, can anything actually be inferred?)

What do you do if the data is just not normal, other than a box-cox transformation? -- and why can't we simply analyze the data as it truly is?
