Attending MBB Training
I've recently been selected by my company to attend Master Black Belt training. They have allowed me to research and choose my own program to attend, but there are a lot of options out there!
"Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge about MBB programs? I would like some advanced statistics, but want to focus on teaching, mentorship and the rest of the soft skills that I will need to develop in order to be a successful MBB.

Amount as Process Variable
I'm trying to set up a mixture DOE in which I have a combination of mixtures, amounts and factors. Three factors compose the mixture. So it seems that I will start with creating a mixture DOE and work in the amount and factors. The 4th factor is the amount that the mixture takes up in the overall volume (either 7.5% or 30.0%).
"For the 5th and 6th factors (which are size and density of the mixture particles), I figure that I can call them 'process factors' in the mixture DOE. This seems to be the way it could be done via Minitab. I inquired and their response was that Minitab does not allow for a design with both process variables and multiple amounts, but that I could set up the 'amount' as a third process variable. Question: Is it really allowed to include the 'amount' as a 3rd process variable?

Gage R & R for Continuous Flow Process
Does anyone have any tips on how to perform a gage R & R where the products are built in a continuous flow process, like cable manufacturing? We have long cycle machine processes and not a lot of changeovers. It's virtually impossible to get discrete part-to-part measurements.

Binary vs. Count vs. Ordinal
I am looking at what factors influence the use of a given piece of equipment on the shop floor. The intent is to encourage workers to maximize use of the equipment. Data exists in terms of number of times a given worker uses the tool during the day. Total number of events (i.e., number of opportunities to use the tool) is not known. Resolution is limited to six distinct categories.
"My question is: What kind of data am I working with - binary (used the tool/did not use the tool) or count (number of times a given worker uses the tool per day) or ordinal (6 is better than 5 is better than 4, etc.)?

Alternative Project Sources
I'm currently not employed, but just passed the Black Belt Six Sigma certification by exam only. Has anyone every done this before, and how did you finish your project without a job?
