I am a Production Manager at a plastics manufacturing company. We are paired with a local elementary school and are participating in some Math, Science, and Technology exercises with a selected group of studies. One of the topics we want to cover is basic IE/Lean principles. |

Hello Leslie, @LGarvey AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) used these examples in their basic lean programs. Raytheon also has an active STEM grant for their “Math Moves You” program (http://www.raytheon.com/responsibility/community/mmu/). Many defense companies have active K-12 programs due to the huge demand for folks with science and technology degrees. I saw similar activities in the NavSea LSS College and the Air Force AFSO21 program. On the ADD/ADHD front, tactile examples are being used to pacify the physical need for movement so the mind can focus on the math. The initial studies have been very successful. I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you need contact info for the aforementioned. |

Leslie … I use a simulation created by University of Texas ARRI. You can find it under visionaryproducts.com. I use it to teach Lean to both Service and Industrial environments. It makes the simple fundamentals of Lean easy and fun. I have not used it in K-12 but I am positive it would work beautifully. Kevin Clay |
