I know this has been discussed before but I would like to get additional feedback on this subject. What are most companies doing with regard to financial incentives to Blackbelts and Greenbelts? If financial incentives are given, are they based on project savings, a salary increase, etc… ? I’m trying to get some idea’s on what incentives are effective and appropriate. Thanks in advance. |

Are incentives necessary? The assumption is that folks are holding back something and unless they are given incentives, they won’t give anything extra. This is a continuation of the “stick and carrot” approach to managing things, a continuation of Skinnerian thinking. It is a means of stealing intrinsic motivation from folks and replacing it with movement. My recommendation: don’t use “sticks and carrots”. |
