How could ISO9000 in particular Quality Management System be value add to manufacturing.  I am looking at ways how to measure the effectiveness of QMS in a manufacturing organization but it’s always difficult to do a tangible measurement. Thanks in advance.

For me, I want to measure the effectiveness of QMS in order to identify improvement opportunities. I think we should have some idea in mind what/how to improve first then measure what support the need for improvement. One problem I found is that sometime we measure effectiveness of QMS and have no idea how to improve. In this case I think it is better not to measure at all.
Conclusion : Think about what/how to improve first, then think back what/how to measure.
