| Don Strayer @Straydog Reputation - 11 Rank - Aluminum | MBB, BB, and GB training and certification have become pretty much standard and certification is offered by various certifying bodies. Other belt colors are nearly always developed internally by companies that see a need/value for lower training/certification levels. In short, if you think this is useful it’s “do it yourself”. |

Only that belts other than green or black are generally not recognized outside of the company that uses them for additional levels of internal certification. Such companies create their own criteria and the belt holder is wise to specify on a resume that this is an internal certification from Company X. If anyone knows of an external certifying body that offers something in addition to GB, BB, and MBB, please comment since this may help with Julia’s original question. |

| Amiy Vivek @themanager Reputation - 0 Rank - Aluminum | As far as my understanding goes, with dozens of certification bodies coming into existence everyday, a certification from a certification body does not really make much of a difference. When you actually apply for a role where the recruiters are looking for people with six sigma knowledge, it is not the certification level they look for. They do a rigorous check of your understanding of the tools used and the details of the project. My suggestion to you would be that you look for some study material online to gain basic knowledge of the subject and try picking up a project in the company you work with. Incase you need any further assistance feel free to gimme a shout. |

| Don Strayer @Straydog Reputation - 11 Rank - Aluminum | True. But let’s not forget that certification by respected bodies such as ASQ and Villanova really does mean something. Julia, if you are looking for training for yourself, go with the GB materials that are widely available. A GB is a capable practitioner. Why would you want anything less for yourself? If you are looking for training below GB for others in your organization the GB materials are still a good fit. The colors other than green or black that are used internally by some organizations may mean anything from “took an introductory class” to “participated in a successful project.” |
