We are currently seeking a Business Improvement Lead that can sit in either our Downers Grove, IL or Ames, IA locations. As a Business Improvement Lead you will lead Black Belt initiatives, coaching, mentoring, and training Belts within the company.
You will enhance the prosperity of farmers by:
  • Manage and deliver strategically prioritized projects, engaging regional and functional seeds stakeholders from initial build through execution
  • Develop and adapt projects using agile methodology
  • Embed change management in project delivery
  • Drive results: Assess and identify risks and changing business needs that may lead adjustments in projects or changes to process to achieve excellence in delivery
  • Design sustainable processes to support innovation and drive continuous improvement and productivity
  • Black Belt leader, coaching, mentoring and training Belts on Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement. Coach and teach employees, teams and leaders at all levels of the organization on the application of improvement methodologies, techniques and how to create an improvement culture
  • Black Belt and Agile Project Management: Leading highly visible and complex improvement initiatives facilitating teams to shape, manage, implement and sustain improvements ensuring delivery on time, to target and within budget. Drive the implementation of strategic projects together with stakeholders. Build, implement, monitor projects, including building plan, charters, business case, stakeholder analysis, user requirements, and other information needed to develop and execute projects
  • Drive results: Assess and identify risks and changing business needs that may lead adjustments in projects or changes to process to achieve excellence in delivery with ability to develop and adapt projects in uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Drive a mindset and actions around valuation of improvement benefits through favorable KPI movement and the understanding of related financial impacts
  • Communication: Build communication to fit needs of audience and content, including project information and productivity program needs

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical / commercial field in agriculture / plant biology and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • 2+ years as a Black Belt or Master Black Belt
  • 3+ years of Experience in business project / program management with application of project and program management methodologies in large / complex projects
  • Data and process driven including excellent analytical thinking and planning ability
  • Trained in a change management methodology
  • Strong capability to develop, coach & teach others in structured problem solving and managing change
  • Must be authorized to work for Syngenta in the United States without work authorization sponsorship
Preferred Requirements
  • 5+ years working on Black Belt or Master Black Belt preferred
  • 5+ years of agile project management and program or portfolio management preferred
  • International experience working with multiple teams and cultures
  • Desirable to have Post Graduate Degree – technical or Agriculture related field
