This Business Process Analyst is responsible for driving department-wide process improvement projects from facilitation, supporting initial concept development to implementation and the creation of performance measures. Using recognized methodologies (Lean Six Sigma) the position leads projects and coaches stakeholders on techniques to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes in City Operations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong analytical background, is a problem solver and have excellent diagramming and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to run workshops and meetings. This role also fosters the development of a continuous improvement culture within City Operations to facilitate the ongoing improvement of service delivery.

Key areas of responsibility for the Business Process Analyst will include:

  • Lead business process improvement projects for City Operations
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma techniques to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of current and future state processes
  • Measure performance results for sustainable improvements
  • Facilitate business section workshops to assess the current state, test opportunities for improvement and future state development
  • Provide implementation and change management support
  • Build relationships with management and provide coaching on industry best practices
  • Utilize project management methodologies and frameworks to effectively manage projects
  • Prepare weekly project status reports
  • Work with project teams to remove barriers and deliver results on time and budget
  • Develop ongoing reporting of measures to branch and business area management
  • Ensure the sustainment of improvements beyond implementation through monitoring, measuring and providing feedback on process performance
  • Stay on top of market trends and best practices
  • Track, gather, document and analyze data
  • Conduct in-depth research for each business process improvement project including a robust environmental scan
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce or another related discipline
  • 5 years experience leading medium to large business process improvements, including process improvement, project management, facilitation, and management consulting
  • A professional designation or certification in process improvement (BPM, ITIL, COBIT, LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt) and or project management is considered an asset
  • Effective facilitation skills and experience, knowledge of proven business process improvement methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to build trust with stakeholders, manage project timelines and deliverables
  • Experience includes business intelligence in mining operational data to assist with process improvements
  • Demonstrated experience developing business improvement measurements and metrics
  • Experience delivering presentations at a senior level and the ability to report up to mid and senior level management is a must
  • Considerable knowledge of methods studies and analyses procedures, practices, terminology as related to this area of work
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions of an advanced nature
  • Considerable skills in preparing and reviewing administrative and technical reports and in making recommendations
  • Strong computer skills including the use of the Google platform, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access, Visio; Proficiency in SAP is an asset
  • Exemplary interpersonal, customer service, communication (verbal, written, presentation), time management and organizational skills required
  • Experience in making decisions that efficiently add value and are achieved in tight time frames
  • Ability to execute assignments that are complex, comprehensive, and requires extensive independence of action and judgment
  • Extensive strategy development and framework knowledge in order to develop and implement and improve departmental business performance
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance

Hours of work: 33.75 hours per week

Salary: $45.846 - $57.931 (Hourly); $80,769.190 - $102,059.940 (Annually)
