    The Gilead Business Services center in Raleigh’s Research Triangle region will be home to some of the company’s critical shared service teams in North America, including Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the necessary support to ensure Gilead’s business runs effectively and efficiently. The center will also be a catalyst for standardization of processes, digital transformation and technology optimization.

    Continuous Improvement Center of Excellence Leader and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt will consult on largescale initiatives and stand up a Continuous Improvement Center of Excellence. This new role in the organization will provide short term consulting for key Gilead IT innovation program teams utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology and best practices. This role will also mentor project managers earning their Lean Six Sigma belts and provide training for managers and individual contributors throughout the process. Lastly, this role will stand up and host a virtual community of Gilead IT’s Lean Six Sigma practitioners and those throughout the organization interested in the methodology so that they can enable better project results through collaboration and knowledge sharing. Candidates must have a lean six sigma master black belt alongside prior experience consulting and training the Lean Six Sigma methodology in largescale organizations.

    Essential Duties and Job Functions

    General responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:

    • Stand up a continuous improvement COE including a repository of templates and information and monthly virtual gatherings
    • Consult key Gilead IT projects including a current ERP transformation on Lean Six Sigma methodology to ensure on-time delivery and high product quality
    • Foster black belt and green belt attainment for employees throughout the organization
    • Support knowledge sharing and best practices
    • Mentor current projects and stand up a Lean Six Sigma culture within the team to increase efficiency and quality
    • Set up a Lean Six Sigma special interest group and facilitate knowledge sharing
    • Partners with the IT Leadership Team in providing vision and direction for the Continuous Improvement COE
    • Drives focus and prioritization within the IT organization with establishing key projects and processes to focus on
    • Leads governance and execution of COE strategy and KPIs
    • Oversees the development and maintenance of relevant documentation, templates, and knowledge sharing
    • Establishes and implements continuous improvement and operational excellence programs for the IT organization
    • Stays current with developments in lean six sigma market trends and opportunities
    • Oversees the general management of the continuous improvement COE and fosters creative ways to grow and maintain participation

    Basic Qualifications:
    High School Degree and Sixteen Year's Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience OR Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience OR PhD and Eight Years’ Experience
    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification

    • Hands on experience leading Lean Six Sigma projects

    • Experience consulting large organizations

    • Ability to collaborate with a team that has a fast-moving and diverse portfolio

    • Experience in business/industry (beyond IT), managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders

    • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport, and persuade others
