Description:Position Purpose

  • Responsible for leadership and development of programs that educate teammates about lean concepts that lead to the identification, development, and implementation of improvements throughout operations. Typical improvement activity results in improved safety, productivity, quality, and cost reductions.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and facilitates the ongoing lean improvement process through the use of techniques such as Kaizen, 5'S, TPM, Kanban, Policy Deployment, Standard Work, etc..
  • Provides lean improvement orientation and on-the-job training for teammates and ensures that the responsibilities are defined and understood and oversees the lean projects.
  • Teach others to lead improvement efforts, including training on effective tools for successful project leadership
  • Identify ongoing lean improvement training needs and assist with developing and implementing the required training.
  • Ensure that appropriate safety and ergonomic processes and methods are being utilized, working closely with the EH&S Department
  • Identify needs relating to improvements in safety/ergonomics and assist in developing and implementing solutions to these issues.
  • Establish metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established goals and targets. Working in close collaboration with Finance and the Stake Holder departments.
  • Develop and maintain annual value stream mapping efforts, CI plans, and calendars.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring to ensure that Project goals, objectives and metrics are being met and maintained.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean programs from inception to completion.
  • Monitor activity level of continuous improvement teams and team champions; alert management of additional support needed to achieve desired results.
  • Provide timely updates to the VP of Operations and the Executive management team on progress towards goals and process improvement opportunities in a clear, concise manner.

. Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS – To perform this job successfully, the individuals must be qualified with the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or QA discipline or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
  • Six Sigma – Green or Black Belt preferred
  • Must possess excellent computer skills sets such as Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel.
  • Display strong analytical, numerical and reason abilities. Must be data driven.
  • Must possess strong project management skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading high energy teams to achieve and exceed goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with many groups with their own agenda to achieve outstanding results for Polygon.
