    The Director of Manufacturing Operations has responsibility for managing the safety, quality and efficiency of manufacturing operations. The successful candidate for this position will utilize lean operating principles to develop, maintain and continuously improve the production and quality processes. This individual must possess a thorough knowledge of manufacturing best practices and a demonstrated track record of success in operations management. This position is critical in driving the strategic direction of Diageo USVI production, creating and driving the production plan, improving processes to achieve increased productivity with the goal of increasing efficiencies, while championing the safety and quality agenda of the site. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate proven leadership abilities with a strong acumen to build relationships, communicate effectively, create an engaged and high performing team and manage annual production budget and forecast for the production plan.

    Core Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee manufacturing operations for rum production and all processes associated with the production of rum
    • Advances and initiates employee engagement which promotes and sustains the safety, health, security and welfare of all associates
    • Inspire and maintain a safe, clean, and environmental compliant distillery site.
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the site
    • Drive positive P&L results through achieving volume production, effective cost management and prudent utilization of resources
    • Grow and develop a workforce to support future expectations for production and quality through effective management, overall direction and support, coordination and motivation of team
    • Evaluate and develop departmental procedures that support cost control, quality standards and foster efficiency and accuracy; champion process improvement initiatives as set out by the company
    • Develop and grow strong cross-functional relationships to ensure the achievement of department and site business objectives through collaboration and communication
    • Perpetually assess and adjust forecast, strategies, procedures, performance, capabilities, to continuously enhance safety, production, service, quality and cost.
    • Prioritize a culture of safety and ensure ongoing communication of safety related priorities; champion process improvements with a focus on elimination of preventable workplace incidents
    • Support site to maintain ISO qualification, follow GMPs, and all other certifications and audit preparatory initiatives
    • Lead performance management activities including the preparation of performance evaluations, planning, assigning and directing work, handling of disciplinary matters, and others as necessary
    • Execute management responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures, code of business conduct and any applicable laws
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience:

    • BS degree in engineering, business, or other relevant field of study; advanced degree preferred
    • 10+ years of managerial experience within a production environment
    • Advanced acumen with waste reduction, process improvement and root-cause analysis methodologies including: Six-Sigma, Lean and others
    • Able to identify gaps and critical needs to meet team’s objectives
    • Ability to work in a challenging and dynamic environment and the ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency
    • Demonstrated strong leadership skills including daily communications with the team and with internal customers
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels
    • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
    • Inspirational leadership characteristics; proven ability to coach and enable team development
    • Uncompromising dedication to safety and quality
    • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
    • Ability to lead and work as a part of a performing team
    • Responsible, proactive, trustworthy and active, enjoys taking ownership and being accountable for their results
    • Proven experience with 5S to drive workplace organization
    • Proven track record in project management; delivering quality results on-time and on budget
    • Responsible for updating, implementing and maintain SOPs
    • Knowledge of GMPs, HAACP, ISO 9001 certification
