OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Support and deploy the continuous improvement model throughout US Center and/or Laboratory networks. Role oversees activities occurring across US Center and/or Laboratory network value streams to ensure alignment to strategic priorities and engagement from leadership and front line staff.
  • Expand problem solving training and applicable certifications to equip the organization to drive measurable business results
  • Provide operational excellence and continuous improvement site support, local coaching and development, and rapid response problem solving
  • Provide training on core lean management system components and ensure innovative best practice sharing across the organization

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct and support OE & CI Training to include core Lean Management System, CI New Employee Orientation, CI Accelerator onboarding, DMAIC Yellow Belt, regional lighthouses, and other BioLife University basic offerings
  • Tiered Accountability & Visual Systems support to include tier meeting facilitation and updates, tracking and trending, process confirmation, problem identification, actions assigned, and appropriately escalating ideas
  • Problem Solving support to include coaching of Yellow Belts regarding flip chart and white board problem solving, formal projects, and facilitating rapid response initiatives at the tier 3 and tier 4 levels
  • Innovation & CI Loop maintenance and support to include promotion of idea generation through the governance process, pilot phase, deployment, and ongoing sustainment through established process confirmation
  • Support standardization efforts through established operating mechanisms all the way through sustainment (SOP, Workflow Guides, Standard Work, etc.)

Decision-making and Autonomy

  • Collaborative decision making is essential as a this is a business support role. Critical decisions will be made by the appropriate operational, quality, or department leaders as it relates to the level of support provided
  • Position has the authority to assist in the decision making process regarding whether or not changes to the value stream are approved or denied. The role requires close alignment to supervisor and senior leadership throughout any decision making process

Interaction

  • This role will be assigned specific areas of focus (ie.plasma center regions, district leads, CI Accelerators) and requires the ability to influence without authority at every level

  • Support and develop innovative solutions through problem solving and preemptive analysis
  • Promote innovation through established collaborative mechanisms

Complexity

  • Incumbent works in office conditions but may spend time in test laboratories or plasma collection facilities where potential exists for exposure to biohazardous blood or plasma. Additionally, minimal entry into freezers (-30 degrees C) could occur. Personal protective equipment and training is provided.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel approximately 30% of the time to participate in various company operational excellence and continuous improvement activities
  • This will be a remotely based position

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience, preferably in a medical or other regulated field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience using six sigma and/or lean tools is preferred
  • Previous certification in Lean manufacturing industry preferred (ie. Yellow, Green, or Black Belt)
