The Operations Manager will oversee daily activities of the plant production operations. This position is responsible for partnering with the General Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate the efficient operations of the production facility to produce high quality finished products. The Operations Manager will analyze production metrics and makes recommendations for improvements and solutions to issues that are identified. They will ensure safe operations and adherence to regulatory requirements. The Operations Manager will ensure that project/production milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct activities through subordinate leads or supervisors to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Review plant-operating practices ensuring that both molding and quality standards are maintained/enhanced.
Cultivate strong internal and external customer focus by delivering the Westfall-Technik vision, culture and values.
Responsible for the strategy and long-term planning of the operations to ensure continued success in meeting customer expectations.
Will train and support staff to ensure they have the tools to meet OTD target results and provide proper communication regarding business performance metrics on a daily basis.
Support the General Manager with systems and tools implementation that support WTI stated metrics, goals, and strategic objectives. Keep team focused on performance that allows meeting and/or exceeding the EBITDA goals.
Manage Site Safety Program and develop a zero accident culture in the business unit such that employees are empowered to positively affect safety plant wide. Support activities for continuous improvement and training.
Manage all aspects of the facility to meet or exceed Customer requirements, in alignment with Company’s environmental goals and strategies and compliance with all applicable agency regulations.
Provide leadership in safety program including supporting safety committee meetings as well as acting as liaison with regard to OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
Facilitate communication throughout the plant to make sure that all areas are working together toward a common goal and have timely information as to current performance.
Develop and maintain culture that recognizes employee contributions and encourages participation in improving the performance and success of the company.
Participate in projects related to the IQMS ERP/MRP system by enhancing the functionality and productivity of the site operations
Provide continuous improvement leadership by championing, supporting, and participating in lean and Kaizen events.
Participate in Customer visits and audits, completion of surveys etc. in support of sales and growth efforts.
Provide leadership and manage/develop the manufacturing organization/operations through effective coaching and supervision to meet business operating KPI metrics.
Develop facility requirement forecasts.
Provide strategic/operational direction/plans, monthly business reporting on operation results, and quality on a timely basis.
Work with the General Manager to help manage P&L, budget, plan and performance
Support communication from the plant financial & operational conditions to corporate as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; MBA or MS Degree with an emphasis in operations management or similar preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years proven experience managing a plastic injection molding manufacturing environment.
A proven track record of cost reduction and work efficiency improvement using lean and six sigma tools.
Solid understanding of lean tools; ability to build and leverage partnerships, implement change and manage projects; relevant lean/six sigma certification preferred
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry-wide best practices required.
Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company’s business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.
Strong financial and analytical abilities; extensive knowledge of business finance and accounting practices required; strong proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum business unit resource requirements.
