Lockheed Martin is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer in support of Hypersonic Program operations based in Grand Prairie, TX. The Hypersonic program is comprised of representatives from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company (AERO), and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (SSC) working across multiple LM facilities. As a result, this role could be based in Grand Prairie, TX.
This position requires dynamic, proactive and results-oriented individual to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive program Quality strategy to support key suppliers. Superior communication, remote collaboration, creative thinking, and time management skills are essential. Responsibilities include:
Applies quality principles in the areas of (1) design, (2) incoming material, (3) production control, (4) product evaluation, (5) program performance, (6) reliability, (7) inventory control and / or (8) research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and / or buy products.
Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models / designs, drawings and procedures.
Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place.
Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action.
Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements.
Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity.
Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
Engages in supplier selection process and maintain certification programs.
Basic Qualifications:
Technical Degree at the Bachelor level or above
Must have the ability to obtain a secret security clearance
Ability to interpret Drawings, Specifications, Contracts and other engineering requirements
Demonstrated ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical / process issues varying from basic to very complex
An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience in disposition of non-conforming products
Knowledge of Configuration and Data Management
Experience in establishing Performance Metrics for identifying process improvement.
Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Ability to travel ~ (25%)
Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Suppliers, Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Sub-contracts (Buyers) and Government Representatives
Desired Skills:
Development Program / product experience
Experience with Carbon-Carbon manufacturing
Nondestructive Testing Certification or experience
Demonstrated understanding of audit techniques
Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality experience
Special Process Engineering Experience
Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
An understanding of the MFC SAP and Procure to Pay (P2P) business systems
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and / or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)
Experience with use of inspection gages and measuring equipment
AS9100 Interpretation and application experience
Experience working with Government customers
Effective Communication Skills: written, oral, listening and technical writing
Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration
Knowledge of Industry recognized Quality systems such as International (ISO), aerospace (AS)
Desire and ability to implement creative problem-solving techniques
Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements
Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and to support all supplier quality field engineering activities
