The Quality Manager is responsible for developing and supporting an effective Quality Department. S/he leads the Quality team to continually improve the capability of the manufacturing and quality processes, resulting in increased efficiencies, reduced defects and variation, and improved customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

1. Under the direction of the Global Quality Assurance Manager, designs and implements policies, procedures, and systems to establish a Quality Management System based on lean manufacturing and six-sigma methodologies.

2. Manages and supervises teams responsible for all aspects of product quality: in-process inspection, receiving inspection, quality engineering, and quality assurance functions. Leads efforts to implement world-class manufacturing practices to ensure our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards.

3. Develops and implements employee career path and training program to develop team and increase product knowledge and technical aptitude. Ensures teams members have the resources to achieve objectives. Defines SMART goals and creates individual action plans to improve product quality and reduce operational costs.

4. Leads efforts to ensure quality and reliability are integrated into all product development efforts, including: design verification testing, competitive benchmarking, in-process inspection, finished goods quality audits, and international compliance standards.

5. Applies data-driven approach to implement quality control measures to increase operating efficiencies, reduce scrap and warranty-returns, and increase customer satisfaction.

6. Documents customer feedback and leads efforts to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards throughout the entire product life cycle.

7. Researches, justifies, and implements new technologies and inspection techniques.

8. Tracks expenses against budget and recommends measures for cost reduction as well as any need for additional resources. Provides capital and expense requirements for budgeting process.

9. Prepares and submits department reports focused on team performance, Cost of Quality, and Key Performance Indicators. Monitors performance metrics in real-time and initiates corrective action or continuous improvement efforts.

Other Job Functions:
Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Adhere to all company and department safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment when necessary.

Education/Training Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
Six-Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt Certification preferred.
Experience Required:
Minimum five years of experience in Quality Management in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum five years of experience in a supervisory role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
KSA #1: Advanced management skills that include the ability to plan, organize, staff, lead and control the operations and financial performance of the department. Corporate-level strategic planning required.
KSA #2: Excellent work standards, initiative, and persuasiveness, and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interface with all levels of employees, vendors, and customers.
KS A#3: Problem solving skills related to problem analysis, planning and organization, decisiveness, decision making, and judgment are required. Excellent work standards, initiative, and persuasiveness.
KSA #4: Advanced organizational and presentation skills.
KSA #5: Advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, database marketing, campaign management, statistical analysis and web-based training applications.
KSA #6: Ability to track and measure results of programs, formulate forecasts, interpret financial data and trends, and prepare detailed budget and planning reports.
KSA #7: Ability to obtain a valid passport. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Preferred:
KSA #8: Six-Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt Certification.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend meetings, perform paperwork activities and drive.
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally frequently.
Intermittent standing and working to move about the facility.
Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level of buildings.
Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials to complete paperwork activities and to drive.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:
Office setting with temperature controls. Supplier and customer sites with varying conditions.
