In Six Sigma, you need to do the 5why’s using the expertise of the CFT in that process. 5Why’s would only give you possible root causes and mind you that the answer of your 1st “Why” is not limited to one answer-you could have as many possible root causes in which you would use for your 2nd level “Why” until you reach the level five…[Read more]
Why did the management select data entry as your project? Your problem would boil down to project selection! Let the management have a “Project Selection training or orientation.”

Yes, if your data collection is not properly done. you will have a “merry go round sigma level.”
I think my question is clear enough-“I have a project that will be closed at the measure phase. Can I consider it a six sigma project? ”
I was asking if I can consider it a six sigma project. By the way I’m already a certified black belt and this is not my first project closed – understand? This is the first time that I come across a…[Read more]
To have a successful sixsigma deployment, it must be a top down implementation not the other way around.

In the introduction of our training, it was also taught that project identification is management’s job, we are the expert on doing those projects but is now little by little becoming an expert in project identification…[Read more]
Thanks for your input, it’s correct that inspection is a non-value adding process(cost) but before you can improve your process, I think you need to have a very good MSA when ” you look at you current data.”

Thanks to both of you.
But what if during launches of a particular product, before mass production, we cannot do it in secret and they are still lax ( but future speed can be determined using ramp – up production schedule ) on that time because we will be using calibration harness ( as we call it ).
You’re right, that’s exactly what is happening on our company. As we start SS, it’s $$$$$$$$ but today, some BB’s are assigned to handle quality focus sixsigma projects and some on financials. But even my quality project which I’m about to close this month has a financial impact.
You’re one of those who I consider expert on sixsigma in this forum, thank you for your prompt answer.
All inspection points are of the same type-dimensional, the method of inspection is also the same-using a dimensional table, but the pass-fail criteria- they have different tolerance band, some are +/- 5mm, some are +10/-5mm, etc.
