We operate in similar circumstances. Classic data-driven Six Sigma is not the most effective in these scenarios. One way we use to address this is to define the present performance to the process owner/users, and then illustrate (and deliver on) consequences for positive and negative change (with greater emphasis on positive!). These consequences…[Read more]

As you may read in this website, DFSS is used for new products. However, there might be a case where the existing process has been optimised employing DMAIC and still doesn’t meet the six sigma level(usually at a 5sigma or 4.8, depends on whom you ask or read). In that case, you may use DFSS.
Another hypothesis states that the desicion is not s…[Read more] -

What makes you think you can play ball? You feel insulted because you dont have a clue of what Six Sigma is. It’s much much more than statistics. First learn about it and then critisize.

Check the journal ”Forecasting Management Philosophy Life Cycles: A comparative study of Six Sigma and TQM” QMJ Vol. 12, No.2 2005, ASQ by R.J. Goeke.
I’m not saying he’s absolutely right but it’s an interesting one. He suggests that SixSigma has approximately 7 years left in its life cycle… -

As far as i know, FMCA ( Failure Modes and Criticality Analysis) is an extension of FMEA it uses CA to rank the results than just the result of multiplying frequency, severity and chances

Hi,
There’s a paper written by Cheryl Harelstad and Dan Swartwood : The Value of Combining Best Practices, at the ASQ Six Sigma Forum Magazine. Have a look at it.

Stan,
It was not my intention to send you any kind of resume of my PhD.
I can’t understand why you have this negativity about phd’s. Setting new paradigms for manfacturing/service organizations is not something new, and in some cases they have been succesfully developed through academia and applied by practitioners.
