    I would rather agree with Punit, you should have some system in place to capture all the reasons of unplanned absenteesim, those all would be your probable Xs. Then you can also plan for brainstorming sessions with your employees and with their supervisor, to understand the actual problem and reason, why they take unplanned leaves. Then you should segregate them between controllable and uncontrollable causes and find out “Vital Few” to work on first….
    Most of the time youย may not directly change your company policies. We need to see that without changing the policies or without dissatisfying our internal employees, how we can improve on this..:)

    Dear Gopi:
    Thank you for your response. Actually we are going to address item one on your email. The philosophy we use currently at our organization is we have Rocks and break it down to boulders which then form objectives for the Leadership Team. Our customer is driving Six Sigma and we have started on this path. I have been selected to complete my Black Belt training which I will start off with leadership awareness. We will be talking in terms of Critical Success Factors and Strategic Areas of Improvement. Our leadership group will be attending a 3 day Leadership workshop too.

    I am looking at various issues and the ERP replacement is a primary issue that will be a great area of improvement. This is going to be a investment but will have a great ROI. I want to look at how this can be accomplished and your paper will help me in this opportunity.

    Our company is a Tier 1 Supplier and our customer has identified us as a strategic partner and one of the requirements is to drive 6 Sigma in the organization. We are a small company and will face a challenge with getting dedicated resources.
    But our current goal is to implement the methology on the operations or back office side. We have a dire need to replace our ERP, we plan to get a new ERP. I just went to my DC workshop and plan to become a blackbelt. I strongly feel with the size and investment in the ERP we would like to do it right. I read the various responses and would like to see how you used 6 Sigma Methodology to successful ERP implementation. We are a precision manufacturing company with a force of about 140 people.

    Hi,

    Six Sigma talks about identifying customer for a process & meeting thier expectatons. It resolves around customer requirements. It gives you a measurable
    metric by whcih you fine tune process & strive for lesser defects. ( Hers Defect is nothing but “Customer
    Dis-satisfaction ” )

    It helps organisations in reducing cycle time of a process running across fucntions. It helps Organisation in reducing waste, delays in process. But remember, to have a success out of Six Sigma, Top Management of Organisation have to be commited & should have a srong review mechanisum.
