ABC – (I wish you could be a little more open than that, if only, with a surrogate name).I think you have over-simplified the development of your control charts and the conclusion. I also don’t understand how your center line will not be in the middle of UCL and LCL.
First, the number of observations you used to take average over each week should…[Read more]

  • Ashok replied to the topic Hypothesis Testing in the forum General 14 years, 5 months ago

    Hi,
I feel that whatever the surveys that you have received will be the population .
So here the population size will be 2676. With this you can take a sample with 95%or 90% or 99%  confidence, get the sample mean and test for hypothesis.
In this situation, I think you can go for 1 sample T test

How did you get to the “curvature” ? What does it mean in terms of knowing the causes?

  • Ashok replied to the topic DOE dataset in the forum General 16 years, 10 months ago

Thanks Robert. I get your point.
I removed the 3 way interaction term and yo, the factors are now significant. But there is a problem still. The residual plots don’t seem ok. What to interpret? Is the model still valid and can I still optimize the response?

  • QFD is a very efficient way of eliciting and gathering requirements… As this process involves all the relevant stakeholders, it helps bridge the gap between the understanding of the customers exepctations and the producer developing the product. Even though the process is quite elaborate and comprehensive it does pay back as we end up with very…[Read more]

  • Cp is the ratio of the specification spread (upper spec – lower spec or US – LS) to the process spread (six standard deviations of the process data, i.e., 6 sigma).  So, Cp contains more information than just the process standard deviation.  It tells you whether or not the process variations are well accommodated within the specification limits, i…[Read more]

If you are looking at Structured set of metrics for call centers, you should refer to the COPC-2000 standard. You can then pick and choose the ones that you would want from the list of metrics provided there.
Also, please clarify with your management as to what information they would want to manage their business better, both from internal…[Read more]

  • Dear Mike,
I could not resist but respond. I went through a similar problem a couple of years ago. Fortunately, my good mentor helped me overcome the problem by taking me back to basics.
Firstly, BPM (Business Process Management) is about processes and processes cut across functions to deliver output to customers or interested parties. Hence, w…[Read more]

    Hi Heebeegeebee…
The Sati or Sutee… is a defect and definitely is higher than the 6-7-8 sigma level.. ( as the population is in billion). This kind of defects is seen every where, including  in much developed countries where different cults and various unsocial unaccepted behaviours are still existing…. there is a common proverb in asian…[Read more]
