Not got much information about it myself, but there are alot of DFSS (Design For Six-Sigma) projects in the automotive industry. DFSS differs from DMAIC in the steps taken – have a look for this in some six-sigma books.

Search this site (upper right hand corner) for span and you’ll find what you’re looking for. It’s not a terribly well documented idea.

IMHO – A company is a Six Sigma company when most people within the company (including ALL leaders) “talk the talk” and “walk the walk” of Six Sigma.
