    Hi Anthony
    You should ideally break your team’s entire activity into unique identifiable activities. Each activity should have a standard delivery/execution time permitted, with a margin for efficiency/learning curve. These standard units then become your unit of measurement.
    You will have to be careful to factor in the training, adminstrative activity, lag in delivery etc in the calculation.
    Since I do not know the specifics of your task, I cannot provide exact details.

    OEE wud be overall equipment efficiency, its a product of machine efficiency, performance efficiency and quality (Quantified data).
    Lunch hours, break where other worker can support shall not be counted into downtime becase actually that time production is not stopped – this is the only case where you have multiple shifts. In case you have planned lunch with no production then lunch time shoud be considered for downtime because OEE relates to machine.
    I guess the calculation are well described in many posts and i appreciate those guys effort.

    What you need is to have the clarity of implication of each of your project. Determine what would you achive with each project and how important it is with business point of view. Many a times it may be a long term achivement as we usually have in case of quality related projects such as quality products, quality service, but, it becomes more critical to initiate with as more the time you delay, more delay in results.
    So my suggestion is there is no standard model required to proritize projects. You can form a matrix depending on time factor, implications, requirement, final desired output etc etc. Seek help of your seniors to understand the implications.

    The idea of applying SS to sales is not to increase your conversion ratio from 20% to 99.99966% …
    Six Sigma is a Improvement methodology(DMAIC/DMADV), the idea is to take up a project and take a target to improve the conversion ratio up from 20% to 40% (example)

    he Rsq. value would increase every time you add a X to your regression, even if your X does not have a significant impact on Y. Remove the X’s which are not significant and then run regression again.

    Since control charts are developed with assumptions of normality and indepence of the data, atleast 30 points are necessary to develop control charts (this is what theory says). But, in reality it might not be reasonable to wait until 30 products are manufactured, for example if you are manufacturing microprocessors, you cannot wait until 30 are manufactured and find out how many are out of control. So, my answer is IT DEPENDS ON THE PROCESS. Central limit theorem is used to support the argument for normality when used for constructing X-bar chart.

    Cost of Motorola is going to be quite high aroun 2500 USD. Also, i think while studing in college you really will not be able to understand the application of Six Sigma in actual Process. You will gain only theoritical knowledge of Statistics.

    DFSS also includes taguchi and tools for tolerance analysis both for linear as well as non linear tolerencing. It also has top level scorecards for the control phase.

    In case you are looking at a completely homogenous process, and not mixture of processes you are more likely to see Normally distributed data..Seldom we want to segment the data and see if each one of them are normally distributed….even after that if we get non normal data you have 2 options
    1) Use non parametric testing and go ahead…but you have limited tools.
    2) Check what causes non normality– look for special causes–check if there are more than 1 way doing the same thing that yeild different results – treat them as 2 processes and check—look for any bias in sampling….if you still cant find a way out…use option 1 or transform the data….( I would use option 1)

    But you can approach GOAL/QPC who are a non profit organization that help companies to improve Quality.

    Try looking at metrics that indicate loss…like # of monthly instalments missed by various borrowers month over month…this certainly would be an indicator of the total loan losses…

    Hello, In my opinion it is the knowledge which is more important than the certificate which a Black belt / Green belt gets after sucessful completion of the training. Certification is only a way to boost the morale of the person.Merely having a certificate will in no way help in improving the output.

    attribute data is only 64 % accurate as continous data hence for accepting the gage we have this stricter norms

    Interaction was calculated by normal method of Anova,Mean sum of Squares/ error sum of squares. It came same using log 10 variance and also eta (S/N Ratio) function of smaller the better. Normality plot of residual was checked and was found more or less normal.

    Please help me with, where to find theoritical back up for this. I recently came across a Japanese Quality Guru .. who asked me to recheck whether I can take sigma as the response factor……Though, I have already done successfully few experiments using this as response.
