Not in insurance, but in sales and support transactional processes. We did help a German MNC’s Asia sales and service center implementing lean recently. The advantages are you see quick and significant result achieved in the short period of time with minimum data collection in cycle time reduction, reduced order backlog, improved on-time and…[Read more]

I do not think George Group claims they are inventor for lean six sigma. George shall be old and humble enough to know that many other people already combined lean and six sigma in early 80s when he was doing his apprentice training in Toyota Japan.

Dog Sxxt replied to the topic Why choose six sigma over Kaizen in the forum General 16 years, 6 months ago
Thank for quoting my old posting. isoquality.com was my former handler before this domain was transferred to ISO. :-)
Kaizen and Six Sigma have their own value proposition. My approach on which one shall be used is pretty simple and straight forward.
If the root cause is unknown and problem is complex, then six sigma is a better candidate. If…[Read more] -

Just accept whatever a company says in the newspapers that they are a 6-sigma company.
If people still do not understand the basic stuff like what is control limit and what is spec limit, t’s better to re-open SPC textbook. -

I was talking Japanese TQC, not American TQM.
I met a Korean six sigma consultant last month. His had consulted six sigma projects for a public service company, Korea Railway with very impressive result achieved.
Yes, I agree. Koreans are keen to learn and improve on what they have learned. Deming did say in his famous book, only Korean and J…[Read more] -

TPS is a grandfather for Womick’s lean and TQC is a grandmother for Smith’s six sigma.
Seriously, I advise you to read Taiichi Ohno’s book, “Toyota Production Syetem Beyond large-scale production”, published in 1988 by Productivity Press before talking about lean concept. -

Theory is still a theory. TQC and TPS in Japan were being trial and error for decades by practitioners to make them work. Bill Smith is also a PhD holder does not mean his think like academia
If academia want to propose something new, it’s better for them go to gemba first to see and smell real things before writing another garbages.
I did see…[Read more] -

Whether you are “academia” or not is not my point. When more academia starting to do research on six sigma or lean subjects, it also the time to nail the coffin for these methods.
A few professors from a Chinese top university wrote an article on lean which is look good in theory but is garbage from the practical side. -
Dog Sxxt replied to the topic Future Trend:Lean-SS or Advanced TQM?? in the forum General 16 years, 7 months ago
The dangerous future trend is some people tend to make six sigma a PhD subject which is beyond the layman comprehension.
Why don’t let us practitioners doing our KISS stuff and you academia doing something applicable only in the lab?
Six Sigma and lean works because they were developed by industry practitioners themselves.
My advice to you…[Read more] -

It takes another 50 to 100 years for the humankind to accept statistical thinking is a necessary basic skill.
