Here’s a not so new concept – give them a percentage of what they save the company.  If a team saves the company $100,000 give the team $5,000 (to be split evenly between the team members).  In addition to the cash make it part of the GB/BB’s review.

You should also consider the cost of storage space if the material in question is not stored in buildings owned by your company.  If, for example, you pay a monthly fee per pallet or you can eliminate some leased storage that cost should also be added to the number calculated using the information from the previous post.
