Pipkin replied to the topic BENEFITS LSS DEPLOYEMENT HOSPITAL in the forum Healthcare 14 years, 6 months ago
For Lean to be effective beyond making things neater, the healthcare organization should have processes that are consistent and that work well already. If they don’t, then Lean per se is going to be of limited value. In healthcare, half of Lean projects have no distinguishable tie to a financial outcome. Of the 6000 or so hospitals in the US, only…[Read more]

You’ll need an MHA (Masters in HealthCare Administration) or you won’t get far. It’s difficult to go back and forth from industry to healthcare. http://www.mastersinhealthcare.com/MHA schools love IE’s, and MHA’s with an IE background are popular with hospitals, but some IE’s have trouble with the healthcare management style. If you can handle the…[Read more]

Pipkin replied to the topic setting goals outside control limits in the forum General 14 years, 8 months ago
Alastair,
No, I think what they are trying to do is set goals that are untainable. For example if you track unemployment and the the trends shows mean unemployment over the past decade at say 5.0 % and you set control limits of + or – 3 SD so the control limits are upper say 8.0% and lower is 3% they want the goal to be 1%. Using the current pr…[Read more] -

Dr. Scott,
I am new at this, but here goes. All the values fall outside the upper and lower tolerances that you provided (2200 and 1900) and none of the values meet the goal (2000). The graph showed that the speed numbers were mostly within + or – 3 standard deviation and therefore within statistical control limits. You could conclude that…[Read more] -

Pipkin replied to the topic Six Sigma Titles in the forum General 15 years, 2 months ago
Thanks for the response. We originally had thought of Manager Process Improvement, but exectuives think it correlates too directly with our R&D or our validation group. We originally had Manager Six Sigma, but that was not a complete reflection of the role as they also are responsible for other avenues of process cimprovement.

It is true ? You mean ” Running a business with a Cp of 1.33 will lose 15-20% of sales ” is true ? You have got to be kidding !!!!
Please do show us your “statistical calculation” , so that we can all have a good laugh. -
Pipkin replied to the topic Cost of Poor Quality in the forum General 15 years, 7 months ago
You are wrong.
A survey showed it is always 28.5 to 31.5 . Mikel Harry proved this with 6 groups of 5 samples and adding the 1.5 shift = 30 +/-1.5 -
