Joe BB replied to the topic Capability study in the forum General 14 years, 1 month ago
Michael Mead,Do not insist, what you said makes no sense at all. you are suggesting that he increases his sample sizes and runs the capability studies as if the data were normal. And if he is “lucky, they will be high enough that your won’t need to worry about making an out-of-specification product”.Luck should not be invoked here. If you use…[Read more]

Joe BB replied to the topic DOE…How to get the data in the forum General 14 years, 6 months ago
Ramon,I do not think that your problem has been clearly defined. You gave the input factors but you did not define what your output is and 3×3=9 does not mean much. You define your design in terms of full or fractional factorial and in terms of how many factors are involved and how many levels. If you have 3 factors using 3 levels, you will not…[Read more]

That is not true at all. Even the ASQ examiner cannot tell you precisely how much will be needed to pass the test. They use a funny formula to determine if you pass or fail.Good luck!!!Joe BB

Joe BB replied to the topic DOE and Cp (capability analysis) in the forum General 14 years, 6 months ago
Ramon,The wait time does not follow a Poisson distribution, it follows the Exponential distribution. The two are close but different.
Poisson distribution applies to situations such as the probability for finding a defect on a machine, not the wait time because the time to wait is more of an interval on a continuum.
If you use Minitab, you…[Read more] -

Joe BB replied to the topic Mikel Harry and Richard Schroeder in the forum General 14 years, 7 months ago
No, Mikel Harry is the godfather of Six Sigma and Richard Schroeder is his friend and they have written an excellent book call “Six sigma process characterization’ a must read for all six sigma practitioners. A lot of people are very jealous of Dr. Harry because of his great contributions to quality improvement. I would classify him next to…[Read more]

Joe BB replied to the topic I have a difficult question ! in the forum General 14 years, 7 months ago
People are an uncontrollable source of variation – common cause.
Have the people in the modern method group been assigned using any special classification methods? If so, these inputs could be used to design factors to partition the SS.
If the people in the two groups have been chosen as random and the desired outcome of the experiment will be…[Read more] -
