Kannan replied to the topic Stat question, and sampling in the forum General 14 years, 1 month ago
Waynej, what is the rational behind 7 samples that they pick up from each lot. You have all the reason to be worried. If your customer understands statistical concepts then you will have to face less challenge. Your curve and customer’s curve would be very close to each other in a long run. Even for it to be so, right sampling at…[Read more]

I Guess he means the extreme values. Stan, then what is the reason for the coeffecient to decrease assuming that he is removing the extreme values?

Hi there. This is a example of negative correlation. as u keep reducing the extreme values the coefficient. Also this could be because of the non linearity in the data sets of x and y. I would not be surprised if the coeffecient reaches near 0 and then starts increasing again after u remove many data points.

Kannan replied to the topic Cpk vs Ppk in the forum General 14 years, 3 months ago
i second annon. Just to add. Process capability analysis entails comparing the performance of a process against its specifications. We say that a process is capable if virtually all of the possible variable values fall within the specification limits. Cpk assumes that the data is normally distributed. The calc for Cp= ((USL-LSL)/6s).

response

if some criteria set like eg, no of lots accepted versus rej should be the factors to rate on quality
then the assesment by customer would be more…[Read more] -

Kannan replied to the topic Targeted Mean or DPPM to be Project Indicator? in the forum General 19 years, 2 months ago
Hi Cactus,
This is a question I often used to ask myself in my early days as a black belt. It almost feels when you finish the project charter you have completed measure phase. But the truth is if you are convinced there is a problem you have seen at some data. So you need to be able to make a Problem Goal Statement that is a combination of…[Read more] -
Kannan replied to the topic Graphical Correlation between Discrete X,Y in the forum General 19 years, 3 months ago
Thanks for your response. I do know the Y and the Y is Delivery Time. I agree with you on both being Xs but this is only to establish a relationship. Also just for you to know the salesman as per a moods median test (non-normal data) is not a critical X. I am still not clear of using a regression equation for discrete Xs.
