The first ‘why’ should be used for the ‘failure mode’ identified and not the problem / symptom.
Problem/Symtom – You are late to reach office every Monday.
Failure mode- You wake up late in the morning.
1st why – You were awake till late night the previous night.
2nd why – You attended a party.
3rd why – You have it every…[Read more]
Are you saying that a person having a PhD in statistics will be a better MBB than a person, who doesnot have a PhD?
I think, leadership aspect plays a important criteria in distinguishing a genuine MBB from the not so genuine ones. There should be no certification for thie MBB because it is a role played by a BB, having a better leadership skills…[Read more]
Thats a very good project. I don’t know if there is any industry benchmark for this.
It will be a good idea to have the project metric as ‘downtime reported due to IT heldesk problem’ instead of ‘cases reported per employee’. The reason being, you will know how much is the impact on the business. Also, it may happen that you are…[Read more]
Thanks for the compliment.
You seem to be very frustrated with life and 1.5sigma shift.
One suggestion – Take a good nap and forget all the worries of Harry.

What has that to do with SPC? I have been Toyota plant in India and visited it from the supplier side. So I know how it works.
I appreciate the TPS, as it has integrated SPC in their daily work force. It was not done in a day…It has taken ages for Toyota to acheive what they are today.
Six-Sigma is a good approach and many of the SPC tools…[Read more]
Pl. make the note of remarks by Lebowski. Do you think, those remarks were justified.
“……..you could pucker up a little bit more before you plant those lips on Harry backside”.
Now it looks like Lebowski is fond of Harry’s backside more than Six-sigma. because he makes it a point to mention it in most of his posts…isn’t it awful.
Your intelligence has got totally exhausted and that is evident from the statements you are making in this forum. Aparently, you are the generator of ths post and you donot even realise it !!
Give your best shot….come on!
I have been reading your posts on six-sigma and I am happy to say that you are simply brilliant.
You seem to be a very talented old man, but looks like you are under utilised. You have not been given enough opportunities in your previous organisation or may be you have been overtaken by some black belts. I don’t see any logic in you…[Read more]

It looks like you have something in mind but are not sure whether it is right or not.
If you don’t mind sharing your thoughts on how you are going to go about implementing six-sigma, write to my e-mail address [email protected].
I will finetune it with my suggestions.
You have asking the right question at the wrong forum. Six-sigma can help you to acheive CMMi levels, but you need to go to CMMi website to understand the requirements.
So, visit the CMMi website. Do some google search and you will get what you want!
Your statement –
‘ Japansee companies do not count defects! Neither do they use SPC to keep track of their ‘standard times,’ as Ford tried to do.. What a joke!’
Japanese companies do count defects ……what do they count then …if not defects?
Japanese companies do use SPC on shopfloor and also for tracking time. I have seen it in…[Read more]
If you are here to settle scores with Harry and his friends, pl. do so in privacy. This is a public forum for helping to do continuous improvement using six-sigma and any value added information will be appreciated.
Your message seems to be very revengeful and it doesnot go beyond six-sigma tables and 1.5 shift…why are you stuck in this ?…[Read more]
According to me, there is much more to six-sigma than just 1.5 sigma shift and the six-sigma tables.
Apart from the six-sigma calculation the pproach followed in solving the problem is more robust than any rpbolem solving methodology that is being used. This is my experience of six-sigma as well as the team with whom I have worked with. You…[Read more]
