  • In my 6+ years as a Six Sigma practitioner, I have used transformation for the purposes of obtaining expected process capability and go beyond just observed capability from the sample (there is a very nice transformation feature since the Minitab 14 release).  For hypothesis testing, when the data is non-normal parametric tests can be used inst…[Read more]

I am a Six Sigma Blackbelt and I’m about to jump into another project, involving HR Time and Attendance, Performance Reviews, and surveying.  Obviously this is a large scope which will be narrowed down.  I’m first focusing my attention on Time and Attendance.  The charter is yet to be made and I was looking for some input from someone who is cu…[Read more]

I have found the way to do it.  Choose Stat > Basic Statistics > Store Descriptive Stats.  In variable I entered the repair type, and in By Variables the Model.  Then minitab just stores the info in the next available columns, which then correspond to the data points plotted.

Yes that is the problem, they are calculated values.  The multi vary is telling me model type on x axis and percentage of repairs on the y axis. There are more data plots against the x axis than there are labels, all I need to know is the model type of each data plot.  Is there any other way of doing that?

Thanks RB,  I can see the brush icon.  However when the chart is active I cannot use the brush facility.  I’m not sure why, and I can’t believe how basic this problem is. The only thing I can see is I am using version 13.1 and not 14, but I cannot see why this would be an issue, do you?

    Hi Faisal,
Sorry about that, I am using minitab.  I have drawn up a number of main effects plots, but cannot remember how to get the data from an idividual point plotted on the chart.

    Junell,
I agree with you 110%.  In an organization where there is no “top-down” buy-in into the methodology as well as no levels of accountability, through the tie-in of Six Sigma goals into performance evaulations, etc., Six Sigma deployment becomes challenging.  Six Sigma must be viewed as a “life-style” change for the organization, ot…[Read more]
