Pal replied to the topic GB Training Question in the forum General 11 years ago
another two cents of advice: consider the performance of your current training program. Are you re-designing for the sake of re-designing or are there certain metrics that the current program does not meet? Along the lines of the parallel HR improvement discussion thread, knowing what you want to change will help you evaluate the many options.…[Read more]

Pal replied to the topic Laid off – want to get certified BB…what to do… in the forum General 11 years ago
Pretty simple (rhetorical) question: why in the world should there be a BB “certification” that does not require completing a “real world” project. As quality professionals, we can, and should, do better. Otherwise, hard-working, well-intentioned individuals like Jason will continue to seek certifications (at significant personal expense) only…[Read more]

Apparently iSixSigma will not frame the http://www.ississippi.org site; you’ll need to paste the address into your browser address bar.

If you are interested in fuchia or another type of belt, you may want to consider the certification process offered by the ISSISSIPPI. Their web site is full-service, and provides resources for complementary accessories matching your belt. http://www.ississippi.org.

Sorry for piling on, but those downloads for Minitab products are available for free to all via Minitab directly. What is the value does Aveta provide in that regard?

Pal replied to the topic New to greenbelt and given an impossible project in the forum General 11 years, 5 months ago
So perhaps I’m missing something here. Wouldn’t flop be best defined by what your customer is asking for? From the nature of the project, can we assume someone is complaining that the non-woven is too floppy? My nature would be to inquire: “what do you mean it’s too floppy?” The response would lead to a definition of floppiness, perhaps an…[Read more]

An excellent model for acquiring customer-developed content. Also, an excellent model for making money. A model for development of black belts? Not so good.

Kiran – interesting problem; apparently your on-line provider does not offer instructor support?ย Which on-line provider are you using?ย I suspect others who are choosing a provider would want to know this before buying.ย

Pal replied to the topic ASQ Certification in the forum General 11 years, 9 months ago
I respectfully disagree because the gentlemen speciffically seeks ASQ certification, not just DMAIC training.ย ASQ revised its BB body of knowledge in early 2007 byย adding topics and dropping others.ย
Compare the QCI materials with the published ASQ BB BOK to see if you are sufficiently familiar with the topics ASQ added since 2006.ย -

With your background, in my opinion, the most important aspect of preparation would be to get organized with your reference materials.ย A practice exam with your materials at hand would be a good idea to confirm your basis for confidence.ย

Pal replied to the topic real life training simulations in the forum General 11 years, 11 months ago
Agree that “real life simulation” is an oxymoron.ย
Cheezer, what you need is a case study using your customer’s own product/process (for relevance) but that also compresses time, cost, risks, etc. associated with “real life” so you have the effectiveness and teaching points of a simulation.ย Have you considered developing a simulation by using a…[Read more] -

Education is teaching theory
Training is learning the practical aspects of the theory
Hope that helps -
Pal replied to the topic online Six Sigma certification in the forum General 12 years ago
Jerry – I believe “accredited” is more properly used to describe an institution, i.e., the school.ย Beyond that, you’ll need to find out exactly who provides the online part of the training.ย For example, Villanova does not provide their advertised training, Bisk Education, a for-profit business does.ย
