Spiderman replied to the topic logo for Tshirt…please advice in the forum General 18 years, 5 months ago
I disagree with the “anti-Tshirt” posts. I think what you are doing WILL work, but…your upper management must believe in it, they must push it at every opportunity!! GE is a good example, their motto or slogan is “The way we work”……and it works!!….because Jack Welch and Jeff Imelt believed in it, and lived it….and led by example. Dem…[Read more]

I dont think there is a “patent police” per say……I really just meant watch what you use, the owning entity may getcha for it.
I ran into the same problem in trying to come up with our company Six Sigma logo…..you can go to the government trademark site and see all of the patented symbols to make sure your design or idea is not already…[Read more] -

Watch out for the Six Sigma patent police…..how about six sigma xmas cookie…spreading ANOVA and regression happiness to all..!!! How about a thanksgiving turkey with the six sigma symbol carved into its belly!! Anyone else have six sigma holiday ideas?……let the world know……MBBs and BBs are people with feelings too!!

Kelly,
You used to work at the BoA quality department? Can you tell…what it was like….why do you say they couldnt hold a candle to Allied or GE? I used to work with GE as a BB/MBB…..just curious as to the differences, etc. -
Spiderman replied to the topic Process Capability for Discrete Data in the forum General 18 years, 6 months ago
Statman,
Can you elaborate…on the Z score concerning discrete process capability. What are the issues or disagreements? -
Spiderman replied to the topic BOA in the forum General 18 years, 7 months ago
Yep, am a Six Sigma professional and pretty darn good at what I do if I may say so myself. And I know I would enjoy working in an environment where the executives believe in it and drive it throughout the business. As you well know…the success is dependant on the drive from the top.
But keep in mind as well, I have worked with alot of Si…[Read more] -

Luke Skywalker,
You work for BoA….I have applied a couple of times…..but no word. And I must admit, I am pretty good at what I do (BB/MBB). Are you guys not hiring anymore Quality guys? -
Spiderman replied to the topic Questionable Master Black Belt skills and behaviors in the forum General 18 years, 7 months ago
Statman hit the nail on the head….there is no controlling authority…and a variety of standards. Ironic …the amount of variation in an industry whos goal is to limit variation.
I would agree with DaveG and Statman…titles can be misleading, the hiring process must be thorough in ensuring you are getting what you want. -
Spiderman replied to the topic How to calculate the Cpk by minitab tool? in the forum General 18 years, 7 months ago
Great points Statman!!
I was just trained to check distribution first….and then proceed to check for stability. And I think you alluded to it…..the distribution will dictate how you will check for the stability.
Question…I am definitely not as strong as you are in the statistical arena (I know enough to be dangerous, but definitely n…[Read more] -

DaveG..
You bring up a good point…..the challenge is moving the company to that “mindset”…..it is also hard to hire such a workforce with that mindset already intact, unless of course they hire all ex-quality guys like yourself. In our organization, we have told our boss that if we do our job right….we should be eventually out of a j…[Read more] -

Statman…
I dont think it is wise to assume normality because a data set is stable. Tell me if I am wrong on this Doc….but stability is to ensure we have predictibility, normality is to ensure we are taking into account the right central tendancy and using right measure of variation in the data set. One cannot be used to determine the other. -

Agree with Stan about the Doc and his email/business address…Doc needs to stop.
About the failure of SS in companies….one of the things I think companies miss in the deployment of SS is the process managment piece. You cant just have alot of GBs, YBs and BBs running around doing projects if you dont have a coordinated effort..and link t…[Read more] -
Spiderman replied to the topic Re-locating the fishbone diagram in the forum General 18 years, 8 months ago
Rahul…
In my training….Fishbone is taught to be used in a couple of places in the phases. In Define, when you are trying to isolate the CTQ….early in Measure to help identify X factors to base your data collection. And again in Analyze…along with a Impact matrix.
But to your point…I tell my BBs and GBs ….to pull from the tool…[Read more] -
