I’m not a materials guy but the following is correct.
If  I have an amount of stock on hand X and it takes me Y days to consume it based upon my average demand per Hr/day/Week etc  then the SOH calc is X/Y
For example I have 1000 units in stock and I typically use 50 a week I have  20 Wks inventory on hand.

General sampling requirement in the process are most likely derive from Customer requirements/objectives.  The individual requirement/objectives are normally benchmark & studied together with the process capabilities in order to determine a sampling plan capable of fufilling the customer.
