  • Comparatively DMADV to Toshiba-Stanfords DFACE  I got the feeling DMADV lacks market analysis like Pdac, cvca, Voc gathering and analysis. Other tools like qfd1,2,3 then enhance optimizations with rsm, taguchi and excel solver perhaps are similar. My impression is that DMADV is more suitable for small products or components while DFACE is more of…[Read more]

  • I think u are confused abt spec limits and control limits. While they look the same but actually they are world apart. Spec limits are values provided by customer on their product specs. While control limits are guides on your input parameter range for production control purposes. While 99.7% looks good on low volume production, imagine if you are…[Read more]

  • It will be easier and effective to identify projects if you use Balance Scorecard rather than Qfd as qfd emphasize a lot on customer feedback rather than profitability focus. Customer feedback is important but profitability focus will show comprehensive result thus will motivate you to strive for full deployment. Balance Scorecard will help…[Read more]

  • I believe your concern is on the many levels of material and supplement. Naturally in Six Sigma before we do Doe we must have completed our Analyze phase first. By doing analysis not just we are going to understand which variables are significant and otherwise, but also we will be able to understand how the different levels of the variables are…[Read more]

  • Based on my experience the biggest trick for profitability of a public transportation company is punctuality, down to the minute. If your service is punctual to the 60secs as promised,  public will rely on you and you will achieve high ridership thus cost per customer will be reduced. My project leaders completed a similar project and they…[Read more]

  • Its actually depends on how many hours allocated. As for my program the faculty gave me 56hrs/ semester so we can do a decent yellow belt program. Enough time for a good Green Belt lectures without a project. So our yellow belt program is a 7 days program. We stick to Six Sigma + strategic mngmt without straying elsewhere into Iso, Tqm, Tpm etc.…[Read more]

  • ISO is a quality management system. The whole quality delivery system or how to ensure your products and services are at the specified quality level. Therefor it’s a huge system that is a working system managed by a QA Manager of the organization. While Six SIgma is an optimisation procedure, a tool set that can be used to improve or optimise j…[Read more]

  • The normality conditions you refer to is a requirement for normal distributions in the parametric statistics. But you can also use other types of suitable distributions or utilize the non parametric statistics or even convert it to a discrete category. However if your Tightness data is an input variable to Leakage as the output variable then using…[Read more]

  • If you the budget better go for an MBB, cause they are better prepared not just to develop your staffs but to produce monetary benefits and transform the organization as well, therefore the return will be tremendous 2 years, 9 months ago

  • You can study first the relationship of each input variable to the output and understand the relationship pattern, if they are linear, then 2 levels is sufficient. But if you recognize a curvy linear relationship, then center points at the inflection point will do. This can save a lot of experimental runs. However if you still find curvatures, you…[Read more]

  • I think its too broad to set the yield as your target, u should consider defect type as your target instead. Your yield as your biggest Y can be monitored as a metric but your project should focus on your defect parameter. Normally we have a few projects to reduce a few types of defects that will result in improvement in your yield. 4 years, 1 month ago

  • Thanks for the rules;) 4 years, 9 months ago

  • Thota, unless your data are demographic data special cause rule does not work there. So just make sure yours are process data then check for special cause. If you want to improve process then you must use normal data, if you want to study demographic data, then not normal data is just realistic;) 4 years, 9 months ago

  • There are many ways to avoid cutting employees and they are of corporate matters instead of six sigma. For electronics the down cycle is normally only 6 months so cutting down workforce is rare. For oil and gas, down cycle is like 2 years, so retrenchment is difficult to avoid, but it happens only like once in 30 years. In japanese organization…[Read more]

  • You should try dfss or qfd, but the creative part will be translating voc of focus group and convert them into great products. Dfss is for design while lean or six sigma is for optimization. Rgds 4 years, 9 months ago

  • Six sigma initially started off as defect reduction method, but in managing corporations, defects are not the only issues to win customers or making profits. Resources optimization also a huge issue when it comes to profit and loss. So beside defects which always refer to non conformance of the final products, resources utilization also need to…[Read more]

  • If the data are not normal then there must be special cause variations in there, rather than normalizing the data set mathematically i would rather investigate the special cause. Rgds 4 years, 9 months ago

  • In dfss mostly it was due to missed interpretation of voc of focus group, and that is if the price is the constraint. Rgds 4 years, 9 months ago
