Niall,
Which forum did you initially plan to post your message? Secondly, if your analysis is referring to Applied Statisitics, observational errror (OE) is the difference between a measured value of quantity and its true value. With this being said, refer to the probability theory before tackling the t-test. The probability theory will provide…[Read more] -

Dr. Eugene Jacquescoley replied to the topic Is Six Sigma Failing? in the forum General 15 years, 7 months ago
This is an intriguing question and possibly, an interesting assumption. Standard and Poor’s provides services in credit ratings, indices, equity research, risk solutions, funds and data servcies. So it seems formidable for one to consider this organization as the premier benchmark (in terms of quantitative and qualitative success, while examing t…[Read more]

Dr. Eugene Jacquescoley replied to the topic Lean Six Sigma in Nurse Scheduling in the forum Healthcare 15 years, 9 months ago
Andrew,Lean does appear to be the appropriate methodology to utilize in this particular matter. But I would suggest complenting this methodology with DMAIC, to get better handle on the root cause analysis of your processes. Nursing shortage issues are quite complex and depending how sophesticated the architecture of your current SixSigma…[Read more]

BB,As a Black Belt, you have several options, especially in healthcare at the moment. For example, the CDC, FDA and DHHS are looking for individuals with your background in various disciplines. In the civilian sector, you may be correct, in terms of SS reaching the saturation point (Depending on who you ask and what forecasting methods were…[Read more]

Liz,Considering nurse full-time equivalents (FTE) a data consideration is crucial in your analysis. But before I can entertain your question, have you considered the following:Have you categorized the surgeries/procedures?

Woo,It appears that a Histogram would serve your purpose compared to the Box-Cox. The presumption of utilizing the Box-Cox Transformation is that the data needs to be normally distributed. Based on a glimpse of your data, it appears that you do not have this problem.E

Ritz,Your response is somewhat correct. However, the distinction is what type of t-test John plans to utilize with measuring the responses from the Likert Scale. As I mentioned before, X & Y metrics can be continous and discrete…and of course caution must be used when inference or generalizing results to the public. This is why we have Welch’s…[Read more]

Darth et al,Thanks for responding and your questions are valid. X & Y metrics can each be continous or discrete. A continous measure will have reading on continous scale where a mid point has meaning. A discrete measure, as you’re aware is categorical in nature. This is why I suggested the use of a Likert Scale to collect responses from John…[Read more]
