• Hello all,
I work for an insurance company that have developed a huge SS program over the last 5 years, growing BBs and MBBs worldwide. We are thinking about adding other roles like GBs to this program, but we do not intend to let them run DMAIC projects for lots of technical, political and cultural reasons. Their role would be to help POs in…[Read more]

  • Hello all,
Thank you for your answers to my question. Actually, the processes I’m talking about are defined and described within their organisation. The only thing is that they run for instance once a year (for example account reconciliations) or even more, but not as often as we can collect and analyse data the right way. We could of course say…[Read more]

    Dear BGBB,
You raise a very good point indeed. I think your question directly refers to the way a company is willing to see BB as deserving an accelerate carrer path or not, and how far the company is willing to put in place HR processes to make sure BBs (at least the good ones) will leverage this BB position to get a better position in the…[Read more]

  • Hello all,
You may find useful to use the FMEA template to put together all the severity/frequency/detectability analysis, the RPN computation and the corrective actions you should put in place to address the major risks. On top of that, this tool is very easy to use with teams, operators and all the “non-experts” people, which is key in this…[Read more]

  • Hello,
I would add that a BB project should focus on the Business Y’s, whereas a GB project would rather focus on X’s, in a process management mode (once the control phase is done).
    Just my opinion.

  • Céline,
According to me, the first questions you need to address are similar to the ones you should ask before launching SS in any business, especially transactional ones : what is the strategy of the company, what are the main programs/projects supporting this strategy, is there a need for process improvement within these programs, why six…[Read more]

  • Celine,
What is your target in this aera ? Are you looking for informations regarding how Six Sigma is applied in insurance companies or are you looking for information about how sigma, as a process capability measurement, is used in such industry ?

    Jim, Dave S and Mike,
Thank you very much for your answers and comments.
As Dave S, I will try to be as nice as I can. SS is OBVIOUSLY about providing results, not showing pretty graphs. I think this is (or should be) obvious for every reader contributing this this SS website. Thank you anyway for this reminder.
My question was only a…[Read more]

    Hello all,
My company started SS 2 years ago in the financial area. We have a BB training program, and a certification path. Despite an exponential roll-out in terms of BB staffing, few of them have been certified yet. I am now in the process of defining some ways to give some more value to the certification, for the BB and for the company. At…[Read more]

    Thank you, Mike,
It is true that it is probably a change management issue, that I have to deal with anyway since I’ve just joined the company… ;-)
Anyway, the request for a lighter version of DMAIC is still high, even from the “best” sales persons, the ones that are the less reluctant to new ideas. Even if GB is not in place in the company…[Read more]

  • franz replied to the topic Regression in the forum General 17 years, 6 months ago

    Dear new,
I would say that R-sq describes the proportion of variation in the response Y that is explained by the predictor X. R-sq adj provides the same information but taking in account the R-sq tendency to overestimate the variation in the response Y. This is why R-sq Adj is sometimes a little bit lower than R-sq.
    Hope this helps

  • Do you mean that SS has been implemented 5 years ago, and that it is now a so good success story that new comers can not help anymore. Or that the initative failed 5 years ago and so now people in the company do not want to hear about SS anymore ?

  • franz replied to the topic Minitab – gage RR in the forum General 17 years, 6 months ago

Thank you all for your answers.
The measurements I have taken are continuous data without a doubt. All the data collected are the same. As Jim H said, if I change a little bit any of these data, minitab provides me with all the graphs we can get using the gage R&R crossed function. But it doesn’t work if data are 100% the same. In this case, I…[Read more]

    Hi Tara,
If it matches your customer’s CTQ, maybe you could consider each of these 9 documents as a defective unit once at least one defect is recorded, and consider at the same time that each issue is a unit and consider only 1 defect opportunity.
    Hope this helps.
