Shouldn’t the project success be dependent on the impact to the company in dollars? If I get a 10% reduction in rework, which yields $150,000 per year, that may be a better project than one that gets an 80% improvement in cycle time, but may equate to only $25,000. Or you can take the initiative and either talk to your boss about it and ask to be on “the list”, or order a SSBB primer through ASQ, study the material, complete a project and take the exam. Either one will show that you are dedicated to getting your certification, and most companies will look more favorably on that, instead of waiting to be asked.
