Hi Caesar,
I suppose you posted the most important, at least the most pressing problem here. Many things are uncertain in live; in your particular case I’m confident we can identify certainty, which is in your place.
Waiting for customers input is a showstopper in your situation. So I would create a SPC chart monitoring the response time of your…[Read more] -

Jaran,I’m not aware if your question was answered, as I scanned only the first 50% or so.It depends a little on the kind of system you investigate, e.g. whether or not you can disassemble and reassemble it again. However, I think >>paired comparision>paired comparision>paired comparisionpaired comparisionpaired comparision

Andre,
You can find great examples at http://www.gnrtr.com. You can find real-life examples at http://www.mprv.biz/iwb; check the newsletter and its index, for example.

iwb replied to the topic 2×3 DOE with missing data in the forum General 18 years, 4 months ago
Marty,
The best way is to repeat this DOE, when you can. After all it are only 8 runs.
An even better way is to review this experiment and refine it, rather than just repeating it. There is something you can learn from performing this DOE, still.
There are ways to treat missing data; of course you will lose some information. I can have a look…[Read more] -

Hi,
Can you send me a few more details on what you did and what you are heading for? E.g. what kind of data do you have available?

Hello Ken,
Thank you for your reply. The details you posted are very helpful for me to better understand your situation. I think you have many routes towards success ahead.
Is it possible to send me a photo of the rusty parts ([email protected])? Or to upload it here to the forum? The forum operators will care for the upload. If so, perhaps you can…[Read more] -

[Sorry for the bad font I’ve chosen. hopefully this one is better for readability.]
Sharon,
I suggest an analytical approach, called AFD (anticipatory failure determination), also known as “sabotage technique”. To reveal the main failure mechanism you switch sides for the moment:assuming your failure is “start time shifted”
your task is…[Read more] -

iwb replied to the topic Lead Time Reduction in the forum Finance 18 years, 6 months ago
Hi Isabel,
I think lead time and through put are directly related:a big lead time will process almost no order
a very small lead time will allow processing the input rate of orders without any delay.
So I think focusing on through put (e.g. potential orders within a month or quarter) will give you the answer.
Which brings me to the…[Read more] -

Hi Trinatha,
A few remarks on previous postings:
3. What type of process I can implement for this company which I am sure in the prospects of becoming a big company in 2 years.
A good way to focus on the most important aspect of this company is asking: “how can X stop it? what must happen to eliminate this company within the next 2 years?”…[Read more] -

Hi Ken,
How evident is the failure mechanism to you?
I suggest applying AFD (anticipatory failure determination) when it is either obscure or too evident. Let me give you an example, how AFD helped preparing a meaningful DOE in a similar situation.

Ashu,
Taguchi’s Parameter Design is a great tool; unfortunately there is few good educational material available about it.
Books: Mr. Phadke’s book on “Quality Engineering” is good for beginners.

The most visible parts in Taguchi case studies are…[Read more] -
