Jeffrey Slater, has experience in almost every aspect of Business Management. His background also includes leading Enterprise Level projects, and preparing Customer Focused qualitative and quantitative analysis of business opportunities and the Strategic Planning Process for three Fortune 500 companies.
Jeffrey achieved an MBA in Supply Chain from Bowling Green State University and has several certifications in quality, sourcing and operations management including a CSSBB (Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (American Society of Quality) for whom he also writes book reviews on Lean and Six Sigma. He has also achieved his CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) with APICS (Association for Operations Management)
Jeffrey recently received his Certification in Lean Manufacturing from the University of Michigan, studying with Jeffrey Liker (Toyota Way) and Mike Rother (Learning to See). Jeffrey has also taught College level classes in Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations Management including APICS certification classes. Jeffrey also completes book reviews for the American Society for Quality and has been publish in several journals including the Journal of Global Business and Organizational Excellence (Wiley & Sons) and is in the process of writing a book on Lean Supply Chain techniques. Jeffrey also lead the customer quality initiatives as the primary contact for Beatrice Foods Wal-mart business ~ Sams Choice cookies. As the Composites Sourcing Director at Owens Corning, Jeffrey identified and delivered productivity savings of $10M while managing over $900M in sourcing spend. He also facilitated the first Lean Six Sigma project at Owens Corning saving $860,000.
Jeffrey currently works for Sonoco as the Operating Excellence and Supply Chain Leader with direct responsibility for all Lean Six Sigma Productivity Projects (including training & mentoring), New Product Development Projects, Rewards and Recognition, and Sonoco Performance System implementation. Early in his career at Sonoco, Jeffrey lead the development and commercialization of several new products at Sonoco including Targets innovative re-closable cereal container and several key recycled material products. Under his leadership Sonoco achieved over $100M in productivity in 2009 and Operating Excellence continues to drive Sonocos efforts to deliver $100M again in 2010.
