Just the raw (excel) data or minitab output? I don’t think this site supports minitab uploads,

Thank you for the response….ahhh Minitab is a beautiful thing.
First it was all about visualizing and structuring the data, then slicing and dicing the data with Two-Way ANOVA, then GLM, then a DOE.
I am at the end of my BB certification journey, this is part of an extra credit case study…finally clarity of how it all works, how to…[Read more]

Doa replied to the topic Specs vs Control Limits Confusion in the forum Welcome 10 years, 5 months ago
Hi Anne,
In a word they are “Different”. Like apples and oranges. Control limits are used to assess whether a process, or a process variable is operating in control +/- 3 sigma limits, X bar, R chart, etc.
Spec limits are used among other tings to determine if a product part or process is meeting (in most cases) a customer generated…[Read more]

Stan,
Thanks for the response…..If I remember correctly, you are with Motorola if so and you are Chicago/Schaumburg based, do you know of Mike Lurie?

Doa replied to the topic DOE Fractional Clarification in the forum Methodology 10 years, 6 months ago
Good Morning Robert,
I lucked out, you answered my post! This clears up my dilemma. I’ve spent much time on DOE…yet it is so important to have a firm and clear foundation.
The key point for me concerning replications is a better estimate of internal error and better ability to detect signifcant diferences.
Your sage advice always…[Read more]

Stan,
I assume then that you enjoy Grappa…I had the fortune to work in Italy a few years ago, I discovered the village of Subiaco just outside of Rome…birthplace of the Benedictine Monks…and an apothecary run by the monks who produce grappa with juniper, a very rare treat indeed.

Hi Stan,
Thanks for the assistance, at first this threw me a bit, when setting this as a upper boundary, Minitab does not calculate the Cp & Pp indices, but that makes sense.
Separately, while searching on the forum recently i came across a discussion regarding the finer points of “Grappa”, were you involved in that discussion?
Thanks…[Read more]

Doa replied to the topic Ordinal Attribute Study – Variance To Standard in the forum General 10 years, 7 months ago
Hi thanks for the response, blocking on parts is necessary because the introduction states that they are run or assembled under varying conditions..that are difficult to control or uncontrollable.
I believe I solved the dilemma, by Minitab>>Stat>>ANOVA>>Two-Way>> input Parts in the “Row Factor” window, Measurement in the “Response” and operator…[Read more]

Contrarian or not…..this is why I use the site. Truly constructive discourse is how decisions are reached. You are correct, you thoughts were my first thoughts as well, which is what precipitated the post.
The temperature example points out my initial dilemma; yet in my specific case I have a series of data used to grade or rate the quality…[Read more]

Hi,
A little clarification regarding the Attribute Agreement Analysis;
We were given the following hint which leads me to beleive I should block on “parts”
“(Hint: the 30 parts were run under different conditions and present various degrees of delamination. The focus is on determining if any – or all – of the operators rate the parts…[Read more] -

Hi Thanks for the response.
It seems as though the prof is indirectly suggesting that another method may or can be used to evaluate variance to an established standard or reference.
The second issue regards interpretation of DOE results:
Given – I ran a fractional factorial, resolution IV experiment six factors at two levels each, three…[Read more] -

Yeah I hear you loud and clear, especially since the site reconfiguration, the voices of “Rational and Informed discussion are few and far between……how long have you been involved with Six Sigma?
