Norman Pimentel is an accomplished process improvement and supply-chain professional with more than 25 years of international experience. Successful in both large multinational context, as well as venture capital backed and locally owned ventures.
Norman earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Additionally, he is a former William Fulbright Scholar, and a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology’s Energy Management program where is completed his Master of Science degree with distinction. The Fulbright is the most widely recognized and prestigious international exchange program in the world. Norman graduated with the highest grade point average of his class.
He has completed several professional certifications: Purchasing Manager (Institute of Supply Management) program in 2000 and recertified in 2007. Villanova University’s Lean –Six Sigma Certification (2010), and the ISM’s Certified Professional Supply Management (2011). Bronze and Silver Lean certifications from the Simpler/University of Iowa (2012), ASQ’s CMQ/OE certification and a Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) in 2014, and has earned 20+ of IBM’s professional badges in Cognitive, Agile and other relevant disciplines.
Norman worked for Tomkins PLC & Gates Corporation where he led the After-Market group and where he used the Toyota Production System methodology in supply chain operations reducing P2P transactional cycle time by 47 days, Lean warehouse layout, inventory reduction ($US 16MM), reduce supply lead times (avg. -6 days). He lead teams set up of inter-plant Kanban and supermarkets for Mexico (Toluca) plants, in addition to 6S, SMED, FMEA and multiple VSA and Kaizen initiatives.
He has been a presenter on Lean applications at nationally recognized healthcare conferences: Healthcare Systems Process Improvement Conference (SHS) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Conference (IHI), and has seven years professional experience in Lean healthcare with Dignity Health and Boulder Community Health at a director level where he implemented system wide Lean transformations, decreasing length of stay by 22% and generating more than $14MM in savings, engaging more than 900 staff in Lean events, and improving core measures by 13%, and patient satisfaction scores by 17%.
He has a successful international track record and experience with supply chain operations in Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, France, Israel, Spain, and Taiwan. He has provided Energy Management consulting to organizations in Central America.
Norman resides in Fort Collins, Colorado where he enjoys outdoors activities and painting. He is fluent in Spanish and conversational French.
