Hi – request guidance on 3 key questions around sampling
    1) confidence level – 95 vs 98 – am in the outsourcing world where the client performs a certain number of external audits in invoices we process, while I have been pushing for 98 CL, the client has recommended 95 since it involves lesser effort for them.. This does not give us enough leg…[Read more]

One approach I used was to segregate the population into 2 groups.. Classify all associates below a specific accuracy percentage (below, 95) as A and the rest as B.
For A, I tried using the sample calculator and kept the confidence as 99% Margin of error as 1% and response DISTRIBUTION as 98%…for any associates greater than 95, only change is…[Read more]

    Hi,

I have a team of 10 associates processing loans , where i need to do an overall 8% QC sampling . This 8% should be based on the previous 3 months rolling Accuracy percentage of the 10 associates . Higher the error percentage, more the samples to be audited .. Ultimately ensuring that we do atleast 8% sampling overall .

    Request some help…[Read more]

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JB – Thanks for replying specifically to the questions .. I will continue to dig into the same to see what else is causing this variation .

Additionally, do we normally use percentiles for central tendency if we see a skewness of > 2 or 3 .

    Rgds,
    John

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the response .. Improving the process is secondary ( will happen later) .

Currently the idea is to understand the handle time so we can determine the staffing and the client can determine how many heads he needs to put on the job on an ongoing basis .

Following are some of the questions ( articulated in the previous…[Read more]

@CFB – Please note there is no sampling , this is the entire population being considered for 3 months .
Btw, i do have a guide and definitely use it .. but you come across issues which at times need guidance and thats what forums like these are for.

Would appreciate some guidance rather than the load of sarcasm.

Thats correct – Slide 1 and 2 was the combined data ( 1 with outliers and 1 without) .. 3 and 4 was documents with 1 page ( with and without) .. have done something similiar with each of the remaining groups .. I agree, would need to check the other factors contributing within each group ..

    2 Questions : 1) When i tried removing outliers from…[Read more]

Hi JB – Thanks for reverting .

Yes, given the significant skewness in data in slide 1 , i split this into 4 different sets based on the number of pages received per document set ( Assuming that more the pages more the time taken ) . Do you think the approach followed on removing outliers is fine or would you recommend any other approach ?

    Let me…[Read more]

Attached is the “graphical summary” run using the combined data before and after removing outliers. Next, splitting it into 4 groups based on the number of pages per document and then pre vs post ( Just showed the graphical summary for docs with 1 page ) .. Based on this what would you recommend as the central tendency OR the approach to be followed.

Thanks for all the inputs .

The output of this baselining is going to determine what our “Average Handle Time” will be basis which the number of resources will be decided . The team currently is
required to input data in our system based on an image they receive.

Based on what you have mentioned, instead of taking all the time together we have…[Read more]

I am currently baselining a process where i have captured time stamps for around 15000 transactions . I then focussed on removing the outliers but removing all those transactions ( 500+) using the IQR formulae ( +/-).. I then took these and run a normality test in minitab and the system shows me that the data is not normal and a mean and median of…[Read more]

    Hi

I work in a process which takes care of the Cash Application process in the entire O2C chain for a client . I am looking to drive a project to reduce the Amount of On Account / Unapplied Cash between the 30-60-90 buckets. However, i am struggling with the business impact of doing such a project . Besides, the normal impact of reducing number…[Read more]
