We can speed up the projects by plucking the low hanging fruits and then taking action on the FMEA items as quickly as possible.

It is QI Analyst 4.1 version and is a wonderware product.
This is what we are using for SPC at our manufacturing plant.
Thanks

Nair replied to the topic Subgroup Question(SPC) in the forum General 13 years, 9 months ago
HornJM,
Thank you very much for your response.
Here is a little bit more detail.
Number of parts produced per shift=8500
total number of shifts=3(8hrs each)
Current SPC procedure is to measure the products in subgroups of 5 from a particular lot every 2 hours. The specimens are pulled out at random but from the same lot.
As per the article…[Read more]

USL=3 TENTHS OF AN INCH ABOVE THE target and LSL IS 3 tenths of an inch below the target
QI Analyst software is being used
Thanks

Nair replied to the topic SPC Question in the forum General 13 years, 9 months ago
Data type variable(measurement of length in inches.there is a target value and +/ 0.3 inches tolerance)
when the operators key in the values they punch in the number of points above or below the target value
sub group size is always 5
heres an example
target length 22.5 inches
operator measurements 1)22.6
2)22.1
3)22.8
4)22.8
5)22.7
so…[Read more]

Hello Everybody,
Thanks a lot for all the inputs and suggestions.
Let me give you a little bit more detail
total number of shifts =3(8 hrs each)& 1 operator each
approximate number of products per shift 8500 units
total 25,500 units
As of now every 2 hrs the operators input measurement readings into the SPC Software(QI Analyst)
Sub group…[Read more]

Hi Helper,
Thanks a lot for your reply and your suggestion.Great help indeed.
But should the control limits be calculated after longer periods of time like a week or after a significant process change has been effected??or should we go for every 28/32 subgroups??
Am sorry if I did not get it the first time
Thanks
Vinod

we have 8500 products per 8hr shift with 40 mins break

Hi JL,
we cut and finish 25,000 hoses at one particular machine a day.
and the speed we use is about 100 Feet per minute irrespective of the diameter of the hose, stock, or length of the hose
at present we are working on getting a particular range of speed for all purposes that will reduce the variation in the cut lengths as well as the…[Read more]

Hi KE,
I somehow could not understand what you were suggesting about reporting the capability numbers in increments of +/ 1, 2, 3, 4 inches(or whatever the tolerances are). How can I possibly report the process capability in increments of the spec limits??
Heres an example:target/required cut length=22.8,USL=23.1,LSL=22.5(All units are in…[Read more]

Peppe,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion.Let me get some feedback on it from my operations manager
Would also like to add, that we have several different cut lengths associatedat the same machine, run one after the other
for example a cut length of 22.6 with a +/tolerance of 3 tenths of an inch may be followed by ANOTHER hose requiring 34.3…[Read more]
