Bainbridge Island, Wash., Oct. 4, 2010 – iSixSigma.com and iSixSigma Magazine are pleased to announce that the top 10 finalist companies have been chosen for the third annual list of iSixSigma’s Best Places to Work™ for Six Sigma professionals.

“Over the past several years, many organizations have re-evaluated how they approach their process improvement programs,” said Jessica Harper, editor in chief of iSixSigma. “But the participation and results of iSixSigma’s Best Places to Work™ confirm that Six Sigma is still a key component of that approach. Participating companies have invested in establishing an environment that attracts and supports Six Sigma professionals, helping to strengthen their organizations as whole.”

Here is the list of finalists for iSixSigma’s Best Places to Work™, in alphabetical order:

American Eurocopter Corp.
Cardinal Health Inc.
Computacenter AG & Co. oHG
Ecolab Inc.
McKesson Corp.
Merck & Co. Inc.
Pfizer Inc.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts – North America
TELUS Corp.
UnitedHealthcare

iSixSigma.com and iSixSigma Magazine sponsored the list, which received nearly 40 nominations from around the world. Nineteen companies met all the entry requirements and completed a two-part online survey. The senior Six Sigma leader submitted answers to an employer survey, and the full-time Six Sigma personnel at each company submitted answers to an employee survey.

“Response from employees of the participating companies was impressive, with more than 1,100 Six Sigma professionals submitting surveys. The 10 companies listed should be proud of their efforts to foster such a supportive environment that allows the culture of continuous improvement to thrive,” said Randy Woods, associate editor of iSixSigma.com and iSixSigma Magazine.

To determine the finalist companies, iSixSigma took into consideration general deployment characteristics, as well as specific employee input, totaling the scores from the two surveys. The greatest weight was given to the employee survey, which asked questions in five main categories: job satisfaction, culture, compensation/rewards and recognition, training and career development, and Net Promoter Score®. Of these categories, the most weight was given to job satisfaction, as that is what employees had said was the most important factor to them when it comes to a working environment.

Those on the Top 10 list will be recognized at the iSixSigma Live! Summit & Awards, Feb. 7-10, 2011, at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa, in Miami. The No. 1 Best Place to Work™ will be announced at the awards ceremony, as will the rankings of the rest on the list of finalists. The finalists will also be honored in the March/April 2011 issue of iSixSigma Magazine and on iSixSigma.com.
