Where does this “1.5” sigma shift comes from. Why 1.5? what is the statistical logic behind it?

It comes from one’s imagination and there is no logic.  Do a search of the archives of this Forum for multiple threads on the subject.  DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THIS THREAD STARTED AGAIN!!!!

Where does this “1.5” sigma shift comes from.
It is the figment of the mind of a deluded psychologist turned marketing guru and his psychotic partner.
    Why 1.5?
It was a misreading of an off hand comment.
what is the statistical logic behind it?
    There is none.
The 1.5 shift doesn’t exist, nor should six sigma tables, nor do sigma levels.  Don’t use them.

Thanks HeBe and BTDT.   I did paiuse a second on the “Moderator” note.  Good one.  But realize that MC loves these long threads that keep repeating themselves.  Lots of traffic for the advertisers.

I’d like to see a list of “sticky notes” at the top of the forum.   1.5 Shift belongs in such a place

BTDT, You had me there for a few seconds…

Once in a while Webby closes a thread and moves it to either Financial Services or Healthcare…..if he closed a thread on the 1.5 shift and moved it, where would it go????  This is a good one for Stevo to chew on.
