Hi,
We were trying to do an hypothesis test in Minitab for defects in our process. While we were trying to do the same using 1 proportion test for referring against a target of 3% by choosing the option ‘samples in column’ in the minitab screen we got an error message, we were not able to proceed. But when we tried putting the data in the option ‘summarised column’ wherein we summed up the defects and the checked qty, we were able to get the results.
We tried with 2 sets of data in 2 proportion test and we had the same error. We were able to use the summarised data option only. Why is this so?
Can anybody explain as to why we are not able to use the option of doing the test using ‘data stored in column’.

Samples in columns: Enter the column(s) containing the sample data. Each cell of these columns must be one of two possible values and correspond to one item or subject. The possible values in the columns must be identical if you enter multiple columns.
Format may be either text (good/bad) or numbers (1/2).0June 15, 2004 at 4:07 am #101736Dear Darth,
