    Azmat Khan,
In case of the comparision of two different population mean, we can use 2 t sample test as well as ANOVA. Could anybody suggest me which test is most appropriate to use and why?.

Keep in mind for ANOVA you assume similar variances.  With the 2-sample T, you can use it for either conclusion about similar variances but you must tell the software which assumption to make for calculating the T and thus the statistical conclusion.
    Just use 2-sample T.

Hi AzmatOne-way ANOVA and the two-sample t-test based on the assumption of equal variances are exactly equivalent. In fact the test-statistic for the ANOVA is the square of the test-statistic for the t-test. If you have a statistical software package then you can quickly check this out with some data – note that the P-values are the same. However, as C Seider points out, there is a form of the two-sample t-teast that does not require the assumption of equal variances.Best WishesBower Chiel

There are alternatives to the one way ANOVA for unequal variances such as (1) Brown-Forsythe and (2) Welch.
