Need some help with 5S.
I am in the service industry and trying to organize our Billing department. The piece I am not very comfortable is the Standardize and Sustain. Does anyone have ideas of audit forms, SOPs, and could you share?
Thanks

For the audit forms.
For the other part: Think of seiketsu (standardize) as a way of standardising the soft systems and the seiri, seiton and seiso elements as a way of standardising the hard elements. The shitsuke (sustainability) must come from discipline and pride. Don’t push-in your implementation, gain buy-in.
Hope this helps.

0June 1, 2005 at 9:43 pm #120560I think the other areas of LEAN may be more applicable…looking at current state and future state VSM while seeking to reduce waste (7W)…gaining speed and accuracy within a transactional enviroment may be better served using these techniques (which includes 5S).
Check out “Learning To See”…great book….simple, straight-forward, and based on waste elimination and thus, increaseing speed and accuracy in the work place…traditional sigma may be too much firepower and 5S not enough…a matter of preference, really….all could be used with effectiveness…. Good luck.0June 2, 2005 at 4:02 pm #120597Thanks
