I am looking for a web based 6-sigma project tracking database.  Can any one recommend a system that tracks projects,  financial information, and can produce reports for Management.Sherry972-894-6800

I know our company uses a program called SigmaTrac developed by the Six Sigma Academy, you may want to look into that.

    Sherry,
You can click right through the list of Consultants attached to this website and get a large cross section of what is offered.
Please consider this. One of the biggest issues in a SS deployment is getting Champions engaged – not bad MBB’s, BB’s, & GB’s. The software can be a time savings issue but if it enables you Champions to become even more disengaged than they are (assuming they are) then you could be stepping over dollars to pick up dimes. These software packages allow these people to spend even less time talking to the BB’s than they already do. Wrong direction.
    Just my opinion.
    Good luck

Here’s a list of one’s that I’ve made by visiting this site over time:
    BMG Projx: http://www.sixsigmaprojx.com/
    6 Sigma Manager: http://www.6sigmamanager.com
    PowerSteering: https://www.isixsigma.com/ads/redirect.asp?id=354
    ClearReason: http://www.clearreason.com/sixsigma.asp
    Sigma Breakthrough: http://www.sbti-hq.com/public/index.cfm/4,333,76,html
I haven’t researched them besides visiting their sites. Let us know if you find out anything good!

I saw BMG’s ProjX tool is being used by J&J, ServiceMaster and Seagate.  If they’re all using it, it can’t be bad.  I’d love to hear feedback from anyone using other programs…..other than from Mike Carnell that is.

I have personally used a not so “cool” Lotus notes database for project tracking. (ProjX front end looks pretty cool to me, I haven’t used it, so I cannot comment on its usefulness ). Many features available in these s/ws can be incorporated in Notes databases, I believe.
I am sure project tracking s/w can be a good tool for MBB’s and champions to manage projects. You have to be careful, however, that this one-way dissemination of information should not kill the dialogue between the BB’s, champions, process owners etc. because now one can say “all the information is right there (database), don’t ask me” …which might not be conducive for engaging the folks who want to be on the fence. (In other words, you have all the info. there but nobody looks at it…)
This has nothing to do with the usefulness of the software, and a lot to do with the culture of the organization, and how SS is working at the location.
    My $0.02.
    Best,
    Sambuddha
